Profiled Wooden Decking over a pond

-
The frame wood for profiled decking is usually made from 100mm x 50mm bearers set 400mm-600mm apart. The frame for this deck used 150mm x 50mm bearers as it crossed the pond.
-
The frame is then set into position on a type 1 limestone sub-base or bolted to legs, depending on the finished height required. In each case a geo-textile membrane is laid beneath to help control weed growth.
-
Each board is then screwed into place with a 2-5mm gap between boards to allow for expansion and contraction in the wood.
-
This project used treated softwood but hardwood deck is also available.
