The finished level of patios is normally a minimum of 150mm below the damp course with all falls away from buildings. The area to be paved is excavated by 175mm below finished levels.
Where needed, recessed manhole covers are installed and steps built on concrete footings.
A 100mm layer of limestone is spread and compacted to provide a solid sub-base. Where needed a geo-textile membrane is laid first to stabilise the soil.
All paving is laid on a full, wet, mortar mix.
Cuts are done neatly with a grinder.
All joints are pointed using a semi-dry mortar mix.
