This garden makeover features porcelain paving and steps in shades of grey to create a crisp and stylish finish. You can see more in this video on our Instagram. The colours used were Lavello Grey and Yorktown Dark. Porcelain is a fantastic material choice for a high end finish which works well with contemporary garden schemes. Here's what the clients had to say:
"After a long career in award winning design, we knew we required a contractor who could interpret our ideas and plans for the garden project and turn them into reality and also be competent enough to deliver the quality of finish needed. Fortunately, we found David who instantly understood what we were trying to achieve. A deceptively simple design with very high level of accuracy.
He quoted promptly, told us his time scale for starting and kept us informed at all stages. What followed was a learning curve for all, but he persevered and has presented us with an absolutely stunning finish way beyond what you might expect from a garden landscaper. It is crisp, sharp and detailed, more akin to what might be achieved internally in a home.
He spent time achieving the small touches that may not be obvious to the initial observer but make all the difference when you look at the overall finished article. A job extremely well done.
It was a pleasure to work with David and I would have no hesitation recommending his work. Well done and all our best wishes for your future."

What a difference a simple sandstone update can have, used here for the pathway and connecting to a new patio area. There's still a lovely woodland cottage garden feel but with cleaner edges and easier maintenance. The sandstone used is Spring Grey Riven and the sleeper edging is larch.
"David did an excellent job. Would highly recommend. Kept us informed at every stage."

Block work Terracing & Sandstone Steps

This garden was made much more useable with the addition of block work terracing and steps, as well as an improved pathway. We used Raveena sandstone, concrete blocks and Golden Quartz gravel for a warm toned colour palette. Here's what the client had to say:
"David did an incredible job on our garden. Not only did he make suggestions, find solutions to the issues we were having, he also went out his way with other ideas for areas of our garden that we hadn’t contemplated on. An existing ramp at the back door was causing problems, and a path to a patio at the top of the garden was problematic for a wheelchair user. Our garden is also on a slope. David completely remodelled and resolved all our problems. His commitment, dedication, passion and hard workmanship is a true reflection and his knowledge and experience are extensive ensuring everything is to the exact detail. Not one day did he let us down and communicated daily on what had been done. We are completely delighted with the finish product and manoeuvring a wheelchair user at ease, is a massive bonus. I would completely recommend Noble Landscapes if your pondering updating your garden or just looking for ideas. David is the man you need."

Feature Sleeper Retaining Wall Garden Makeover

This garden was previously sloped at the back with no clearly defined areas. The client had created a plan which we worked to and the end results are quite the transformation!

We used sleepers to build a retaining wall with a levelled area for greenhouse base, built to the installers specifications. This sleeper wall continues across the width of the garden with steps up to the greenhouse,  a terraced section for the planting and built in bench at the back of the composite deck area.

The client then planted up the garden and the project was complete. It's now a much more useable space and makes the garden flow beautifully from greenhouse to deck seating area. Here's what the clients had to say:
"We wanted to make major changes to our garden layout, including changing and adding to the hard landscaping, new decking, a new play area for our child, and an area to accommodate a new greenhouse. David was wonderful to work with from the start. He understood what we wanted, gave his own suggestions and professional opinions on the details of the design, and we were very happy with the quote. The work was done when promised and took about 3 weeks to complete, which we expected. He worked incredibly hard, was very professional throughout, meticulous, and friendly whenever we came to see the progress and discuss next steps etc. The whole process was really enjoyable and we are so excited to now have a beautiful and functional space for the whole family. I would definitely hire David again for any future work in the garden and have recommended him to friends since."

These books feature a mix of planning, planting and inspiration with an emphasis on wildlife and sustainability 🌿

  1. Garden Design Bible / Tim Newbury

  2. Gardening for Mind Body & Soul / Annie Burdick

  3. RHS Colour Companion: A Visual Dictionary of Colour for Gardeners / Dr Ross Bayton & Richard Sneesby

  4. Sustainable Garden: Projects, insights and advice for the eco-conscious gardener / Marian Boswall

  5. RHS Encyclopedia of Garden Design: Planning, Building and Planting your Perfect Outdoor Space / Chris Young

  6. Planting for Wildlife: A Grower’s Guide to Rewinding your Garden / Jane Moore

When do I Need to Book a Garden Design Package?

16/5/2022

At Noble Landscapes we’re happy to give you a free quote for your garden project. This usually involves adding you to our appointment waiting list, a site visit and project discussion, then giving you an accurate price for the works. This often includes a little bit of free garden design - working out the best way to execute your ideas, maybe even a sketch to go with the quote so we know we’re on the same page.

If you haven’t got any ideas for your garden makeover, or want more than a rough sketch, you’ll need to book a garden design package. This means we have the time to develop a plan to make the most of your garden and your budget. The design is yours to keep so if you decide you want to use the plans to do the work yourself that’s fine too.
