5 Crops You Can Grow in Pots & Containers 

Last year there was a huge increase in the grow your own trend, with everyone spending lots of time at home and living a slower pace of life it made a lot of sense. If you fancied a go but were put off by lack of space (or not wanting to commit to building a mini allotment) these are some crops to try in containers or pots:

1. Tomatoes - find a sunny spot for your container, choose the right variety for your favourite recipes, add supports and make sure to feed and water regularly.
   
2. Raspberries - as with tomatoes; add canes to support and keep well watered. Just make sure your container is wide enough (around 24 inches)
   
3. Carrots - growing carrots in a pot is much easier than in the ground as it helps prevent pests. Just make sure your pot is deep enough and has good drainage.
   
4. Strawberries - they like a lot of sun and do well in a hanging basket, which looks lovely too! Don't overcrowd them and keep them in a spot that's sheltered from wind.
   
5. Salad Leaves - there are so many varieties to choose from and they're very easy to grow. If you have a long container then you can grow a few of your favourites in one place. Perfect for harvesting for garnishes and summer BBQs.
